About the project

ევროპელ ავტორთა დღე European Authors’ Day was established in 2023 at the initiative of the European Commission. It aims to promote European literature and a culture of reading, while strengthening direct connections between authors and readers.

Since 2025, the initiative has been carried out under the #ReadForReal slogan, bringing together schools, libraries, bookstores, cultural and educational organizations, authors, and readers across different countries. One of its key principles is the active involvement of local participants, allowing each country and organization to develop a programme of activities that reflects its local context and the interests of its audience.

Declaration on the Authorized Distribution of Books

About the project

The Georgian Book Association has developed a Declaration on the Authorized Distribution of Books, which has already been signed by 23 member publishers and book distributors of the Association.

The main purpose of the Declaration is to protect the book market from counterfeit products, promote respect for copyright, and ensure that readers have access to high-quality, licensed, and reliable publications.

The document represents a shared commitment of book industry stakeholders and contributes to creating a transparent, fair, and sustainable publishing environment in Georgia.

The Declaration is open for signature by both authorized publishers and book distributors. Starting in September, the Georgian Book Association launched the creation of a unified “Authorized Distributors” Registry, which will be published on the Association’s official website and social media channels. The Registry will help readers easily identify trusted distributors and purchase legally published books.
